He graduated from the National Defense Academy of Japan, School of Systems Engineering. He completed his Master’s degree at the Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences, Yokohama National University, specializing in research on image processing via machine learning. He earned his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), where his research focused on the collaboration between AI and humans regarding “inventive step” (non-obviousness) in patent law. In 2015, he founded AI Samurai Inc. (formerly Gold IP).
